Celebrate—and
help protect—freedom of expression in the arts
and media at this house party chaired by prominent members
of the Los Angeles film and political communities. Chairs
include Laurence Fishburne, Gina Torres, Joss Whedon,
and CA State Senator Jack Scott.
Enjoy live music, comedy, poetry, and art. Comic Taylor
Negron and artists Elender Wall and Bryant Kong headline
the entertainment. Speakers include LA City Council
members Antonio Villaraigosa and Eric Garcetti.

for MoveOn.org

Come to a
wine and food extravaganza in a fantastic downtown San
Francisco gallery space to support MoveOn.org
and help "86 Bush" and his
administration from the White House this November.
Enjoy food
and drink from 13 top restaurants and 17 top wineries,
live music, guest speakers, and a silent auction. Of
course, artists Elender Wall and Bryant Kong will be
there to perform The Poetry of Donald Rumsfeld.
Participating
restaurants and wineries include (partial list): Boulevard,
Fringale, Hayes Street Grill, Zuni Cafe, Glen Vineyards,
Talley Vineyards, White Rock Vineyards. The event's
goal is to raise more than $25,000 for MoveOn PAC.

at Mission in downtown San Francisco.

Concert for
Justice
for New Americans

Elender and
Bryant will perform a Benefit Concert
in support of Justice
for New Americans, a non-profit organization
which advocates for immigrants' civil rights. The organization's
activities are especially important today due to the
US Patriot Act.
The event
commemorates the anniversary of Wen Ho Lee's return
to freedom (JNA was previously WenHoLee.org, in support
of the Los Alamos scientist who was accused of espionage)
and the memory of Kent Dedrick, benefactor of progressive
causes and one of Lee's great supporters.
The program
includes remembrances, a reception, and a CD signing
with the artists.
Location:
Unitarian Universalist Church, 1187 Franklin St.
at Geary in central San Francisco. Concert takes place
in the chapel.
Tickets:
Advance reservations $35 by check to J4NA Foundation/Benefit
Concert, mail to Justice for New Americans, PO Box 120,
Fremont, CA 94537. At the door $25 standard admission,
$15 seniors and students with ID.
Parking:
Not too bad on adjacent streets. Or come by transit
to this central location (38 Geary bus from Powell station,
or any bus up Van Ness from Van Ness station).

raising this official fund privately enables public
funds to be spent on campaigning. Hear live remarks
by Mark Berman, the group's Mass. co-chair and law school
classmate of John Kerry, and talk by phone with Philip
O'Neill, Chair of the campaign's Middle East Foreign
Policy Task Force.
