Successful launch month culminates in worldwide media coverage

Apr. 20, 2004

March was an exciting first month for the new album The Poetry of Donald Rumsfeld and Other Fresh American Art Songs; Rumsfeld songs composer Bryant Kong; and debut artists Elender Wall, soprano, and Kong, piano. On Mar. 12, 2004, National Public Radio broke the story of the new songs on Morning Edition—the #2 radio program in the country—on more than 600 stations nationwide.

Subsequent attention from print, online, and broadcast media worldwide—including the Los Angeles Times and BBC Radio—led to three separate video crews filming the artists performing The Poetry of Donald Rumsfeld at their Los Angeles CD Release Concert on Mar. 28, 2004, at Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica, CA. The three crews from CNN, the Reuters news service, and ARD (German national television) were preparing features on the new songs to be aired this month. Both the CNN and Reuters features juxtapose footage of the songs in performance with archival video of Rumsfeld speaking the words in real life.

The CNN segment aired today on Paula Zahn Now. The ARD news segment was broadcast recently on its program tagesthemen ("Topics of the Day") and can be seen at the channel's website via streaming video. The Reuters piece is available to local and national stations worldwide that subscribe to the news service.
