Fall
tour dates—
Weapons
of Mass Distraction: Faze II
Aug. 3, 2004
We are excited
to announce the first events in our fall campaign, which
we are calling Faze II of our Weapons
of Mass Distraction Tour. Details for all events,
including location and ticket information, are in our
Tour Dates section.
The tour for
The Poetry of Donald Rumsfeld is distinctive—especially
for classically based music—for its variety of
venues. Elender and Bryant perform not only in traditional
classical concert halls, but also at "eclectic
music" series and political fundraisers, as they
bring the new songs to a broader audience.
September brings two benefit events in San Francisco.
On Wed, Sep. 8, 2004, Elender and Bryant
will perform at 86 Bush, a wine &
food extravaganza at a fantastic downtown gallery space
to support MoveOn.org
and help "86 Bush" and his administration
from the White House in November. Guests will enjoy
top-notch food and drink, live music, guest speakers,
and a live auction. The organizers hope to raise $25,000
for MoveOn.
On Sun,
Sep. 12, 2004, the artists will perform a Benefit
Concert in support of Justice
for New Americans, a nonprofit organization
which advocates for immigrants' civil rights—a
particularly important task today in light of the U.S.
Patriot Act. Held at the Unitarian Church of San Francisco,
the event commemorates the struggle of Los Alamos scientist
Wen Ho Lee and the memory of Kent Dedrick, benefactor
of many progressive causes. The program will also include
guest speakers, a reception, and a CD signing with the
artists.
Elender and
Bryant are thrilled to be invited to perform in two
prestigious concert series this October. On Sat,
Oct. 9, 2004, they will perform as part of
the Noe
Valley Music Series, which has hosted well-known
artists—including legends Joan Baez and Bobby
McFerrin—and a variety of musical styles since
1983. A CD signing will follow the program. The artists
will also perform in October at the Berkeley
Arts Festival. Concert details are still
being developed and will be posted as soon as we have
them.
Again, please
visit our Tour Dates
section for event details and ticket information. We
hope to see you at a show soon!

TechTV
air dates
Aug. 2, 2004
Part of Stuffed Penguin's mission involves taking classical
music where it doesn't usually go, and Elender and Bryant
are certainly doing that with The Poetry of
Donald Rumsfeld.
As we've mentioned
previously ("Artists
make media, mentoring appearances," June 28,
2004), Elender and Bryant taped an appearance back in
June on TechTV's Unscrewed with Martin Sargent,
"the ultimate showcase for the darker, funnier,
sexier world of technology and the Internet." Performing
some of the Rumsfeld songs and chatting with
the host, the artists brought a bit of culture and a
good laugh at Rumsfeld's expense to the pepped-up studio
audience and—soon—to Unscrewed's
younger, plugged-in viewers. It was great fun.
Now, those
of you who get TechTV—most likely via digital
cable or satellite TV—can finally see the show.
It will air at the following dates and times, and possibly
again in the future:
- Tues, Aug. 3, 2004: 8:30 pm Pacific Time / 11:30 pm
Eastern Time
- Wed, Aug. 4, 2004: 11:30 pm PT / 2:30 am ET
- Sun, Aug. 8, 2004: 12:30 am PT / 3:30 am ET.
